Our Approach in Early Childhood Development Our approach in early childhood development and child care is to provide, as close as possible, the best elements of upbringing found in a healthy family. In our center, young children learn from our experience, gently and caring teachers and one another in a mixed-age family-system setting. They are active participants in programmes that are based upon physical and healthy sense development; continuity of tender care; development of emotion and feeling; homely,nurturing and creative arts, development of social interactions; and around the age of 5, the development of intellectual ability and literacy. These activities are inspired by the work of Rudolf Steiner and the experience of Waldorf education. Physically, one of the most important developments during early childhood is the continuing growth of the brain and nervous system. By age 3, the brain has reached three-quarters of its adult size, and by age 5, nine-tenths of its adult size. Gross motor skills increase drastically, and because of the growing needs children ar more active than at any other period in the life span. Cognitively, young children live in a world of imagination and fantasy. They have a very active and startlingly creativity, and as they grow, their mental grasp of the world improves. They learn about themselves, others, the surroundings and the world through play, by doing, by observing, and form their day-to-day living experiences with other children and adults. Therefore, to avoid stifling the nature and hindering the development of a nature and hindering the development of a child, preschool children should not be "taught to" in the traditional sense as older school children or adults are taught. They must be free to discover answers through experimenting, exploring and experiencing the world around them. We are dedicated to providing a preschool education and child care that understands the needs of a young child, and embraces and encourages the development of the child as a whole human being. Our age appropriate programmes honour the role of imagination and play in the awakening of the creativeness, and address the growing inner lives of young children. This extra mile in early development lays a solid foundation for the children's future learning, as well as responsible and enthusiastic participation in life. |
